Gangsta Granny - review
GANGSTA GRANNY
by David Williams
About the book:
This book is about a young eleven-year-old boy named Ben. He has to stay at has granny's house every Friday, whereas his parents go to watch their favorite show live called Strictly Stars Dancing. He finds his grandma boring. "All she does is make cabbage soup and play scrabble!" he groans. But soon he finds a tin full of gems. He gets curious and starts investigating how, why, what, where, and when did she get all the jewels. As he digs deeper, he finds that his granny is a gangsta! She was a world-class thief. However, she couldn't fulfill her wish, stealing the Crown Jewels of London. Ben is flabbergasted. He thinks about it, and then he tells her, "You know what granny? Let's steal the crown jewels of London". There is a whole handful of twists, turns, and comedy in this book.
My favorite character:
Honestly, I loved all the characters, so it is really hard to decide. All of them have really different characteristics. Some of them are really funny, like grandma, who smells like cabbage (I wouldn't like it if my grandma would smell like cabbage, Eeeeew!).
Some of them are mega dance fans, like mum and dad. Ben sometimes feels that if his mum would have a choice of saving Ben or the Strictly Stars Dancing CD, she would probably go for that old CD.
Ben is the one I like the most though. Well, mostly because he is around my age and that I can relate to what he is feeling. But of course, I can't decide for you. You surely have your own unique choice!
Recommended for:
I would suggest that people who like genres of adventure and humor should read this book. Even though anybody would definitely enjoy reading this book, it is most suitable for preteens.
