Short - sighted Reality

 Short-sighted Reality

Through the windows, I look out to see,

Where the mountains lie, shall my happiness be?

The far-sighted dream of caressing the clouds;

The stinging desire to run away from the crowds.

The bitter truth of who I am,

it lies deep beneath sea and land.

My heart is caged under layers of grim,

my soul concealed under covers of sin.

I lost who I was a long time ago.

I trust not one more than I did before.

Betrayed I was, regarded a lost cause.

Now my tears are merely what the rain has seen.

Now I am not the innocent child that I had been.
